Our very own Kathleen (“Kathi”) Lucchesi took her toughness and determination outside of the courtroom this past weekend and completed the 5th Annual Dopey Challenge Run at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This four-day, 48.6-mile race included a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and culminated with the 25th anniversary running of the Walt Disney World Marathon.
Kathi began training for this event in August while maintaining a busy work schedule, parenting three active kids, and undergoing surgery for a kidney stone the week after Thanksgiving. Despite missing nearly a month of training, she stayed focused on her running goals and finished strong. Now that is pure determination and toughness (and a splash of dopey).
“I’m not sure what was harder – running nearly 50 miles in 4 days or getting up at 3:00 am to be out at the starting line for the 5:30 am start of the races for 4 straight days,” said Kathi. “It was an incredible event with thousands of runners for each of the 4 races and hundreds of amazing volunteers keeping all the runners hydrated and on track. Believe it or not, I absolutely would do it again!”
Join us in congratulating Kathi for accomplishing something that few would ever dream of trying. We cannot wait to see what you run into next.
