On February 1st, Lincoln Derr Co-Founder Tricia Derr was part of a star-studded group of Charlotte trial attorneys presenting at the 3rd Annual All-Star Trial Advocacy CLE. This year’s Keynote Speaker was Janet Ward Black, an experienced trial attorney practicing in Greensboro and principal owner of one of the largest women-owned law firms in the state. The All-Star Advocacy CLE attracts attorneys and staff of all experience levels and is highly anticipated every year.
Tricia Derr joined Chief Judge Laura Turner Beyer, U.S. Bankruptcy Court (W.D.N.C.) to present Courtroom Presence, Professionalism, and Ethics. Judge Beyer and Ms. Derr discussed common mistakes made by lawyers in the courtroom including ex parte communications, the duty of candor, and civility.
“This was an excellent opportunity to gather together to discuss trial techniques, rules, and strategy,” said Tricia Derr. “Even the very experienced trial lawyer needs a good reminder every now and then.”
A big thanks to Heather Culp for serving as the Program Planner for this event.
