The Lincoln Derr team recently traveled to New Orleans to attend the National Association for Minority and Women-Owned Law Firms(“ NAMWOLF”) 2019 Driving Diversity & Leadership Conference. The conference spoke to a wide range of topics including law firm reputation management, understanding gender-based communications, and leadership strategies to impact real change in legal profession diversity.
Lincoln Derr attorney Kathleen (Kathi) Lucchesiwas part of a TED-talk style panel on the challenges of finding and retaining diverse talent. Ms. Lucchesi was joined by Logikcull’s Moneet Kohli, moderator, Kay Suh of Lee, Hong, Degerman, Kang & Waimey, and Sonjui Kumar of KPPG Law. The session inspired robust audience participation from member law firms and in-house counsel in attendance.
When asked about her experience, Lucchesi commented, “The audience interaction is what made this panel extraordinary. The audience was not afraid to tackle tough topics like how the expanding definitions of diversity can impact diversity goals and how we as lawyers can be boots-on-the-ground in the development and implementation of inclusion initiatives. Moneet Kohliput together an incredible panel and presentation – I was thrilled to be a part of it!”
We continue to invest in our NAMWOLF relationships and value the insights and perspectives gained at NAMWOLF events from fellow law firm members and in-house partners. We understand our responsibility to engage with other women and minority-owned law firms to serve as an example of diversity and inclusion success. We all have a role in resisting diversity fatigue and jolting the metrics measuring diversity in the legal profession. NAMWOLF is leading the way, and we are glad to be a part of their diversity and inclusion commitment.
