Maria Ortiz & Kathi Lucchesi
On January 25th, Lincoln Derr attorney and Co-Chair of the NCADA (North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys) Diversity Committee, Maria Ortiz, and attorney Denaa Griffin of Yates, McLamb & Weyher, moderated a panel discussion at the 3rd Annual NCADA Winter Workshop. The discussion focused on the #MeToo movement and the effect it has had on how sexual assault and sexual harassment claims are being handled today.
“It was wonderful to see our audience members so actively engaged in the #MeToo discussion. Our panel speakers were top notch and provided us with excellent insight into the ethical, legal, and practical issues surrounding sexual assault and sexual harassment claims in the #MeToo era,” said Ms. Ortiz.
Lincoln Derr Labor & Employment attorney Kathleen Lucchesi was part of the panel and lent her expertise to topics ranging from how to adjust your approach when advising clients to a discussion examining the ethical implications of nondisclosure agreements.
“Maria and Denaa put together a really great program on a topic that has been at the forefront of employment matters for the past year, remarked Ms. Lucchesi. I loved hearing my fellow panelists, (Duke Energy attorney) Kathleen McKay and (Herrmann & Murphy – plaintiff’s attorney) Sean Herrmann offer their different perspectives on what can be a very sensitive topic. It wasn’t so much a panel discussion as it was an animated conversation with the audience. It was my honor to be a part of the panel and the discussion!”
The Winter Workshop also featured roundtable sessions across various practice areas including, labor and employment, construction, general liability, government, complex commercial litigation, and medical malpractice.
